The Double Half Hitch or Grain knot is actually a bind, that consists of two half-binds, and is done with two cords. One cord is the base, and the other is the knoting cord that forms the bind. We should always place the starting part above the knoting cord, and it should be tightened.
A number of The Double Half Hitch knots around a single horizontal cord is called a horizontal bar, and it’s done as shown in the figure.
If we place the starting part over the koting cord diagonally either in the left or right side, we form a diagonal bar.
The vertical bar is done with the same knot as the horizontal bar, but the threads change roles, so the knots are tied with a starting part, and the knoting cord become the base.
This method of binding is especially applied in Cavandoli technique, which is used for making of these samples with folk color.
